September 15, 2017 – During the AWT Annual Convention and Exposition, members had the opportunity to party on the Gillette Bridge over the Grand River in Grand Rapids, Mich. This year’s awards dinner honoring Robert F. Ferguson for the Ray Baum Memorial Water Technologies of the Year Award and McGowan Insurance as the Supplier of the Year, got a little extra media coverage. This was largely in thanks to 300 large rubber ducks floating down the river as a fundraiser for AWT’s charity partner, Pure Water for the World.
Attendees were able to purchase ducks to enter in the race, with all proceeds going to the charity. The winner of the race, Eric Fraser, received two free registrations to convention next year as well as a painting by AWT’s own Kevin Cope.
The race drew so much attention that the local ABC affiliate, WZZM 13, showed up to cover the event.
