Title: The AWT-PWW Partnership: Five Years of Delivering Safe Water Off the Beaten Path
Learner Objectives:
PWW hopes to thank AWT members for and educate them about the five years of impact their giving has had on families in Honduras, and share examples of how the AWT-PWW partnership is recognizing and benefitting members.
Content/Topic Outline:
After exchanges with AWT leadership and Reid Hutchison, we believe a panel discussion may be the most productive structure for this presentation. Presenters could include Matt Korn (PWW ED), Maria Inestroza (PWW Honduras Country Director), Reid Hutchison (HOH COO), and two other AWT members who have made generous gifts to PWW but who have done so in a more anonymous manner. We could also have 1-2 members of the Charity Task Force join the panel.
Presenter:
Matt Korn, Maria Inestroza, Reid Hutchison
Presentation Description:
AWT continues to be a generous partner to Pure Water for the World (PWW). Five years into the partnership, the support from AWT members has helped PWW reach thousands of remote Honduran families with safe water, hygiene and sanitation tools.
Today, more than 2.2 billion people lack reliable access to safe water at home and over 4.2 billion people lack reliable access to safely managed sanitation. This lack of safe water and sanitation is leading to more than 1 million deaths each year due to water-borne illnesses. Many of these deaths are children under the age of 5.
Millions of dollars have been distributed to developing countries in an effort to make safe water and sanitation possible for all of those who lack these resources. And, positive changes are happening. Yet a vast majority of these funds are allocated to communities that are relatively easy to reach and serve, where piped water to homes is possible.
This is where PWW is different. In Haiti and Honduras, PWW is reaching families who live outside of easy to access areas, taking the roads less traveled to bring clean water to families. For more than 20 years, PWW has been delivering comprehensive, sustainable WASH programs to families living in the most rural, dispersed communities, where piped water to homes and schools is not a reality.
To date, PWW has served 750,000+ individuals living in 250+ communities, in Haiti and Honduras, to increase access to safe water, improved sanitation, and healthy hygiene, building local capacity and creating collaborative partnerships for sustainable change. And we have the data to show our methods are delivering impact and getting results.
AWT has been a critical partner in this success. From supporting entire communities to purchasing a truck to help our teams reach last mile households, the generosity of AWT members has provided PWW with the resources to go off the beaten path and go where others won’t to deliver safe water.
Join us to learn more about the AWT-PWW partnership and how the generosity of AWT members has made an impact in the lives of thousands of families over the past five years, and how support of this partnership engages employees and adds value and visibility for your company.
