Title: Cooling Towers and Water Management Programs
Presentation Description:
The goal of water treatment professionals is to offer appropriate products and services to help their customers maintain system efficiency and equipment service life ASHRAE 188 provides the water treatment professional with a framework to help their customers achieve the goal by creating site or company specific Water Management Programs. As part of the site’s water program team, their customers want the water treatment professional to bring knowledge and expertise beyond simply chemicals to include risk management concepts and an understanding of the mechanical systems they treat. Some jurisdictions have enacted regulations aimed at reducing the incidence of Legionnaires’ Disease. Regulations focused exclusively on evaporative cooling systems have not shown a meaningful correlation to a reduction in disease. This session will review operational and water treatment differences between adiabatic, closed circuit coolers, cooling towers, and evaporative condensers. The presentation will also discuss potential action levels based on a better understanding of how evaporative cooling systems operate. |
