Muskegon Wastewater Plant Tour

Wednesday, September 13
9:15 am-12:30 pm

The Muskegon Wastwater Plant is a remarkable treatment system that handles wastewater from companies engaged in pulp and paper manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and everything in between. The story begins at the end of the 1960s, when community leaders and planners in Muskegon County decided to design and build a spray irrigation system that would reliably treat up to 42 million gallons per day of wastewater. This forward-looking solution has served the community since 1973 and now stands as a significant community asset for attracting economic development. We have the opportunity to have a behind-the-scenes tour of the plant, which uses a land treatment process encompassing 11,000 acres of aeration and settling basins, storage lagoons, and irrigated cropland.

Part of AWT’s mission is to help independent water treatment companies survive and thrive. We do this in part by collaborating with and supporting each other. This spirit is the overriding ideal behind the owner’s meetings—to help propagate the continued growth of independent water treatment service companies. This half-day workshop is an intimate gathering for owners and one other person in top management from their company to learn, share, and network. It will provide learning and development opportunities featuring highly interactive workshops, leadership and personal development sessions, and common interest roundtable discussions. This is a unique meeting you won’t want to miss!
