Professionals in the water treatment industry play a critical role in conserving water. On World Water Day, the Association of Water Technologies (AWT) celebrates how water treatment professionals are saving water.
The purpose of a water treatment program is to minimize the carbon footprint, water usage and environmental impact of HVAC cooling systems and process cooling systems, by optimizing the control of water chemistry.
AWT's executive director, Heidi Zimmerman, CAE, stated, "Industrial facilities require water treatment of various mechanical systems to control scale, corrosion, and microbiological fouling." Ms. Zimmerman further stated, "Successful water treatment programs help extend equipment life, maximize energy efficiency, and reduce downtime."
