Adam Green is an attorney and the Chairman of Baker Donelson’s national Water Technology and Water Treatment Group. Over the past 18 years, he has successfully consulted and defended clients in Legionella related wrongful death lawsuits across a wide range of industries including hospitals, hotels and various heavy industry locations across the country. His cases have also included high value property damage claims arising from catastrophic system failures incident to a myriad of operational, design, maintenance and treatment related issues. He is a frequent author and speaker at the Association of Water Technologies, Cooling Technology Institute, IADC and others. He has published numerous technical papers on the subjects of legionella and water treatment.
Bob Cunningham is a Principal with International Water Consultants. He has 53 years of water treatment experience across a broad range of applications and industries and served as President of the Cooling Technology Institute and on the Board of the Association of Water Technologies. Bob is a sought after speaker, consultant and expert witness. He has served as a testifying expert in Legionella related fatalities across the country and consulted clients on Legionella related issues across the globe.

The concept of Legionella litigation is frequently discussed in industry circles. While water treatment professionals are generally aware of the perils and expenses associated with legionella lawsuits, a relative few have actually experienced the reality of being named a defendant or faced an aggressive cross-examination in a wrongful death context. This presentation seeks to educate the attendee regarding the common narratives and tactics advanced by Plaintiffs in legionella related litigation. Adam Green is an attorney and the Chairman of Baker Donelson’s Water Technology and Water Treatment Group. Over the past 17 years, he has defended and advised clients on a wide range of matters relating to water borne pathogens, water handling systems and water treatment throughout the United States and in international venues. In 2017, he served as lead counsel in the successful defense of the first reported Legionella wrongful death action brought against a chemical water treater resulting in complete dismissal in both the federal trial court and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has published numerous technical papers on the subject and is a regular speaker with the Association of Water Technologies and the Cooling Technology Institute where he serves on various technical committees.
